We have been working very hard to ensure the goals and work of FPSO are actively continuing even within the confines of home isolation and social distancing. We would love to be able to get together in person, but for the time being we will be providing Virtual training to our members.
As we begin to learn how to manage an interactive virtual training, we are limiting the attendance of each training session to 30 people. If interest is higher, we have the option to offer more than one session to ensure all of those interested are able to take the training. These trainings are coming to you – our members, at no additional cost (as your membership dues are covering the training cost).
You are welcome to attend one, two or all three trainings – each date is a stand-alone training. We are have pursued training content that are specifically relevant to foster families as we all deal with back to school this year.
Training #1 – Navigating the Educational System – Thursday October 1
Training #2 – Learning Moments: How Can I Support My Child’s/Youth’s Education at Home – Thursday October 22
Training #3 – How to Cultivate an Effective Relationship With My Child’s School – Thursday November 12
Our trainer for these sessions in Katherine Noel – a retired school teacher with 34 years experience in the education system, Currently serving as Education Liaison with the Children’s Aid Society of Toronto.
Katherine has requested if any of those who are planning to attend have specific questions on the topic, to send these questions into the head office via email. These questions will be used to help focus the training on what attendees will find helpful.
We are asking for those interested in the training to confirm with the Head Office their intention to participate by email to fpso@fosterparentssociety.
Each participant will be sent instructions on how to join each session, and will be provided a training certificate for attending.
The deadline to register for any of these workshops and to send in questions is one week prior to each training date.
