Q. What is the United Foster Parents of Canada Corporation? A. The Corporation was created to protect foster parents and their families from allegations as a result of their fostering. |
Q. Can Individuals join the fund? A. Individuals may send a check for three months or a year based on your best guess as to the number of foster children per day in your care, with a completed application form to Jim Mallon. The Check is made out to the United Foster Parents Of Canada Corporation. However, we would prefer to have an entire FPA join and have the per diems deducted by the agency |
Q. Are the Director’s of the Corporation paid? A. No, the only expenses are those incurred by the directors in the pursuance of their duties. |
Q. What happens to the money that is collected? A. The majority of the money is placed in GIC’S with different lengths of terms. $30,000 is kept in general funds to handle Allegation costs as they arise. |
Q. How do you access the Fund? A. Speak to your local Director who then contacts the President of the fund. You may call the President directly |
Q. Who is covered by the Fund? A. All foster parents who pay into the fund, their biological children and any babysitters who have an on going duty with the foster children |
Q. How do I get a Lawyer? A. The Fund has Lawyers on retainer or you may contact your own Lawyer. You are also eligible to receive 1 hour’s free consultation with a lawyer in any case where an allegation has occurred or may be in the process of occurring. The Fund’s president is Jim Mallon.
